Teniqua Broughton- SBAZ Short Bio
Teniqua Broughton is a seasoned nonprofit leader with over 25 years of experience driving organizational growth and fostering equity-focused leadership. As Founder and CEO of VerveSimone Consulting and CEO of the State of Black Arizona (SBAZ), she has championed initiatives that empower underrepresented communities and strengthen partnerships. Through SBAZ’s African American Leadership Institute, she has successfully equipped leaders in Phoenix and Southern Arizona to address systemic challenges and drive meaningful change.
Teniqua’s work includes developing the Racial Justice Leadership Collective curriculum and a AZ Impact for Good workshop, emphasizing actionable strategies for equity practices within the workplace. Her board service includes Creative West, regional arts organization, LISC Phoenix Local Advisory Committee, Desert Botanical Garden Foundation and Education Forward Arizona. Recognized as a 2024 Worthy 100 honoree and finalist for AZ Biz’s Nonprofit Leader of the Year, a Phoenix Titan 100 in 2022 and 2023. Teniqua holds advanced degrees from Arizona State University and certifications in nonprofit leadership and equity. She is passionate about creating lasting, equitable impact, while traveling to sunny places with water, reading leadership books and buying fabulous shoes.
