This is Part Two in our Series, Meeting Expectations. Each year, the Pinal County Coalition to End Homelessness (PCCEH) must adopt a Strategic Plan. The strategic plan must align with and address system performance measures established by the Arizona Balance of State Continuum of Care. The PCCEH is pleased to share updates on our annual goals.
This week, we are highlighting the System Performance Measure of reducing returns to homelessness within 6 months of being housed. What this means is, once someone is housed, we aim to keep them housed. However, we track if that person returns to homelessness within 6 months and one year. This information is measured and tracked in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This data can be verified at: https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/hmisaz/viz/BOS-SystemPerformanceMeasures/QuarterComparison
The Arizona Balance of State Continuum of Care has set a benchmark that we need to reduce 6-month and 12-month returns by 1%. To address this, the PCCEH sought to increase the coordination of prevention service agencies. We did this by conducting a survey to identify all of the prevention services within Pinal County. This resulted in a list of those services on our website. We also provided two HMIS training sessions in November and December. This was to assist our case managers with entering accurate and timely information into HMIS.
As a result of these efforts, the PCCEH has reduced returns by 2% (as of the 2nd quarter of 2025).
