Interesting angle for this webinar, see below.  Fyi and if we could put on the PCCEH website that would be great.  Gabriel Jaramillo from Vitalyst is a great speaker and proponent for this effort. Thanks!

Webinar: Building in God’s Backyard: Faith-Based Partnerships for Affordable Housing Development

Wednesday, February 19 | 10:00 a.m. Arizona Time

Join us for an insightful discussion on leveraging faith-based partnerships to create affordable housing opportunities in our communities. This webinar will highlight the recently published toolkit  from the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) developed in partnership with LISC. We’ll explore real-world examples of successful faith-based development initiatives to address the housing crisis and the toolkit’s role in supporting these efforts.

Our panel will include Helen Dunlap, a distinguished community development advocate and co-author of the toolkit, who will provide an overview of the toolkit’s key insights. Joining Helen will be Dave Kresta, an adjunct professor at Portland State University and founder of Jesus on Main Street, and Rev. Dr. Jay R. Hartley, Regional Minister and President for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Arizona. Together, they will discuss how faith-based organizations can drive change through affordable housing development, including a spotlight on Arizona’s first “YIGBY” project, led by Desert Dove Christian Church in Tucson. Special guest Gabriel Jaramillo from Vitalyst Health Foundation will also share their perspective on navigating these innovative housing initiatives.

Whether you’re a housing advocate, faith-based leader, or community member, this webinar will provide valuable insights into creating partnerships for affordable housing that align with the mission of serving those in need.

Speakers include:

·       Helen Dunlap
Helen is a longtime community development advocate whose career spans over four decades. She served as the founding CEO of the California Housing Partnership Corp., Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Programs at HUD, and President and CEO of the National Low Income Housing Coalition. Currently, she is a key contributor to LISC’s efforts, including the HUD-LISC Toolkit for faith-based organizations.

·       Dave Kresta
Dave is an adjunct professor at Portland State University and the founder of Jesus on Main Street, a program designed to equip church leaders to reimagine and repurpose religious spaces for community and economic development. His work addresses neighborhood change, gentrification, and the role churches can play in bringing economic healing to their local communities.

·       Rev. Dr. Jay R. Hartley
Rev. Dr. Jay R. Hartley serves as the Regional Minister and President for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Arizona. He’ll speak to the efforts of the Desert Dove Christian Church congregation to develop Arizona’s first “YIGBY” (Yes in God’s Backyard) project, which focuses on using surplus church land for affordable housing.
